Sierra Pacific  Gas and Electric Standards and Requirements

Volume 17  Electrical Installation Guide

Gas Standards

The Sierra Pacific Power Electric Distribution Standards gives construction personnel, suppliers, and customers the requirements and resources they need to properly build and install electrical facilities to be used by Sierra Pacific Power to provide utility service.

The electric construction standards contained in the documents on this page are (for substructure requirements plus metering)--based on current engineering practices and design considerations--represent our company's approved general methods for commercial and residential electric service installations.

The construction of new or remodeled installations must conform to the provisions of city, and county ordinances, rules on file with or issued by the California Public Utilities Commission, Nevada Public Utilities Commission, and applicable rules of the state of California and Nevada. In areas where there are no local governing ordinances, electric installations should meet the latest requirements of the National Electrical Safety Code, National Electric Code, and
applicable California and Nevada regulations.

Electric service will be established only after completion of Sierra Pacific Power's application/design process and the electric service facilities are satisfactorily installed. Local or State ordinances require that permits and final inspection be obtained before we can establish service. Contact your local Sierra Pacific Power office for additional information or help.

In addition to our free online version of our electrical standards, a hardbound, printed version of the documents on this page is available for an initial fee of $100 which includes all future updates at no additional cost. Additional books and/or replacement books are also available at a cost of $50 per volume including future updates. Contact the Distribution Standards department at this address.
